When planning a nursery, bear in mind that your child will be mobile before long.
- Make sure there are no sharp edges or corners on the furniture.
- Choose a nonskid floor covering and consider putting bars and locks on the windows
- The furniture should be stable so your child can’t pull it over
- Toys should be stored at floor level so your child doesn’t have to stretch to reach them
- Choose wall-mounted lamps to avoid trailing cords
- Don’t overheat the nursery; overheating is a risk factor in crib death (SIDS)
- Secure drapes and blinds well up from the floor
